Alicia is originally from Indianapolis, Indiana. She and her husband, Doug, own Pilates Center of Chicago since 2007 to present. Center of Chicago is a continuing education facility for certified instructors and values creating relationships in the community. Alicia was formerly a senior Power Pilates Teacher Trainer, teaching certification programs nationally and internationally for Power Pilates from 2002-2011.
Doug Zabrocki is the owner of Pilates Center of Chicago,with his wife, Alicia. Doug was the owner of The Pilates Center of the Southwest in Scottsdale, Arizona, a Power Pilates Affiliate Training Center 2002-2007. Doug was previously a senior level Power Pilates Teacher Trainer, traveling nationally from 2002 – 2011.
Mary Kawooya’s Pilates education began as a complement to her dance training. In 2008, Mary obtained full mat and equipment instructor certification with Power Pilates. Two years later, in 2010, Mary graduated with a B.A. from Columbia College in Dance Education. Currently, a PMA certified Pilates instructor, she continues to teaches Classical Pilates throughout the Chicagoland area.
Barbara Katz discovered Pilates in 1995 while searching for relief from the pain and fatigue of several back issues, including scoliosis, stenosis, and a herniated lumbar disc. In the eleven years that followed that first lesson, Pilates gave Barbara her life back. In 2006, Barbara left the corporate world of children’s educational publishing to become a certified Pilates instructor. She is fully trained to teach clients on the mat and all of the equipment.
Ana Avila was raised in Miami, FL where she attended Florida International University. Her physical journey began at a young age as a dancer in her beloved Colombia, where she worked with many academies during carnivals and different events around the country. Ana discovered Pilates when she was an undergraduate pre-law student at FIU and soon Pilates became her physical and mental outlet.
Melanie Hortin received her Pilates certification from Romana’s Pilates in 2002. She was fortunate to have all of her training and seminars taught by Level 1 instructor, Juanita Lopez, and to be tested by Romana Kryzanowska herself, protege of Joseph Pilates, for her 600-hour exam.
